Which Stretch Mark Remover Will Work Best for You

Stretchmark Removal

Is there an ideal stretch mark remover method that will work for everyone?  Not really.  However, there are a number of stretch mark removers that are utilized with different results.  More and more of these tend to take the natural approach while others involve a more radical approach, like cosmetic surgery.  As you can see, stretch mark removal can be a complex and time-consuming endeavor with the investment ranging from around $30 for stretch mark removal creams to $1,000’s for cosmetic surgery or treatments by laser.

Which treatment works best for you will be determined by the age of your stretch marks, your skin type, and budgetary limits.  A general summary of some of the most popular stretch mark removal techniques are detailed below:

Don’t Forget To Hydrate Yourself

Ingest just as much or more water as you drink coffee, tea, or soda. Stretch marks can also result from nutritional deficiency. Drink significant amounts of water (at least 2 litres on a daily basis) – not soda or juices – because it helps your skin in staying flexible. If you are one of those people who are addicted to coffee or tea, drink three litres of water every day.

Take Skin Supportive Supplements

Vitamin E is a very key vitamin to take during pregnancy to avoid stretch marks. In addition, a lotion containing Vitamin D will assist in preventing stretch marks. But, because Vitamin E by itself won’t work due to the large size of their molecule; the addition of lanolin, which has very small molecules, can be utilized to deliver the ingredients beyond the top layer of skin and help with skin elasticity.  If you suffer from stretch marks, Vitamin E is thought to improve them by fading their appearance.

Stretch Mark Removers

The fact is that stretch mark cremes will not remove your stretch marks totally, but can usually fade your stretch marks appearance to where the damaged skin blends with the surrounding normal skin.  There are many stretch mark cremes and oils that have been specifically designed to sustain your skin taut and firm during pregnancy and actually help in the prevention of stretch marks from starting.  The creams and lotions that penetrate the skin deeply will provide longer-lasting moisture that is essential to healthy skin. These creams are best used as night creams.

Surgical Procedures

Surgical treatment is generally the most expensive of the stretch mark elimination methods, though repeated laser treatments can result in similar prices.  The truth is that surgical treatment is considered to be the most effective and conventional method in ridding oneself of stretch marks. This method generally involves the removal of areas of skin where the stretch marks have developed.  The 2nd type of surgical treatment that can assist in the removal of stretch marks is laser surgery. This method is essentially non-invasive and doesn’t leave skin damage such as scars or incisions.

Laser treatment of stretch marks and scars are claimed to stimulate collagen production under the skin as the dermal skin layer absorbs the laser light, which in theory fills out the skin and helping to return pigment to the scarred area. However, there is still an argument within the health care circles regarding the use of laser technology in  the treatment of scars and stretch marks.  Even now, many medical practitioners and plastic surgeons have concluded that lasers can’t effectively treat stretch marks.

In summary, the stretch mark remover methods detailed above are all proven to work to different degrees, depending on the person’s skin type, stretch mark age, and available funding.  The least expensive of the stretch mark removal techniques are the creams and lotions, which fade existing stretch marks and give them the opportunity to blend in with the surrounding skin.  This method is one of the most pain-free treatments and should be considered first — you may just be very pleased with the results while saving your hard-earned dollars!
